Quickstart.
Get a provider connected and complete a small, reviewable task.
Verified for Gyro 0.1.0-alpha.49.7Before you start
You need macOS 14 or newer, an Apple Silicon or Intel Mac, and one connected provider. Gyro is a public alpha; use version control and keep a copy of work you need. No Gyro account is required.
Provider CLIs and local models can have additional runtime or memory requirements. Cloud providers receive prompts, context, and tool results. Read the privacy details.
Install Gyro
- Download the DMG matching your processor. In the Apple menu → About This Mac, an M-series Chip means Apple Silicon; an Intel Processor means Intel.
- Open the DMG and move Gyro.app to Applications. Launch it from there.
- If macOS blocks the alpha’s first launch, use System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway for Gyro, then confirm the prompt. Keep Gatekeeper enabled.
Ready: Gyro opens to its workspace.
Open a project
- Select a project folder in Gyro. Start with a small repository you know.
- Create a session in that project. Check the selected project before giving the agent a task.
Connect a provider
Choose one path. A provider login or API key belongs to that provider, not to Gyro.
Run your first task
- Choose your connected agent or model in the chat picker.
- Send a bounded request. For a first run, use the example below.
- Read any tool approval requests before allowing them. Let the task finish, and read the response.
Explain this project’s structure and its test command. Don’t change any files.
Ready: the agent returns an explanation of your selected project and its test command. This first task should leave your files unchanged.
Review the result
For a later task that changes code, open Review and inspect the diff. Use the terminal to run the relevant checks, and the IDE Workspace to inspect the source. Keep changes only after you understand the result.
If the provider cannot start, check the matching troubleshooting section. The website’s interactive example is sample data; the downloaded app runs tasks.
